Grey College arrived in full regalia, determined to expand their realm, while Monnas stood firm at the gates of their fortress—alas, not for long. For when the dust settled, Grey College had swept across the battlefield with nine triumphant tries, claiming a resounding 47–8 victory.


Initially, Grey College’s court looked somewhat unsettled—like royal courtiers still learning their dance steps. But once their knights found their rhythm, they unleashed a regal onslaught that left Monnas scrambling. Five unanswered tries in the first half put Grey ahead 27–3 by the royal halftime decree. The Grey forward pack proved itself a fearsome cavalry, galloping headlong and delivering prime territory for their backline—who then dazzled the crowd with swift, princely footwork.


In the grand second act, Grey College doubled down on their magnificence. Toriq Schambreel lit up the pitch with a spectacular solo effort worthy of the royal archives, extending Grey’s lead. Then Steven Muller, Bernard Wessels, and Tristan Maree joined the scoring soiree, each one carving their name into the annals of the day’s lore.


Monnas fought valiantly but managed only a consolation try in the corner from van der Westhuizen, plus an early penalty by Jayden Viljoen. Though spirited, it was rather like presenting a small jewel at a coronation—respectable, but overshadowed by a far grander display.
